The VX8700 cell phone met my expectations for call clarity and reception capability, and of course the sleek design and easy to use features make this cell phone a superb communication tool for work and play.

I bought 4 of these phones a few days ago. I have tried to put them through all the paces that our family needs. This includes primarily voice calls and texting, with some speaker phone use. We have ipods for music and digital cameras for photos, so those were low on our list of priorities, though we tried those features too. We did not use data services. We wanted excellent call reception and durable sleek phones. The lg 8700s are perfect for our family. Concerns of battery life and heat were non issues - a little warm, but still plenty of power after 2 hour call test. Pros: excellent reception & clarity excellent design, fit, and finish quality 2mp camera (though no flash) solid & durable feel cons: a little heavy in front pockets highly recommend!

I have had my LG VX8700 for nearly a year and after reading some of the reviews, the cell phone quirks make sense. My cell phone gets very hot in the back where the battery is. The longer you're on the phone, the HOTTER it gets. Now the issue is that I have gone through several Bluetooth devices, from Motorola to Plantronics. This cell phone has issues supporting any Bluetooth connections. After nearly a year of Bluetooth frustration, I finally called Verizon Customer Service and they confirmed that this particular model is experiencing problems supporting Bluetooth and that I too, needed to take it to the Verizon store to have some software downloaded onto it to fix the problem. It continuously drops the Bluetooth connection whether you are on the phone or not. It will also stay connected but you cannot hear whether you are the caller or callee. This has become rather annoying.

I bought this LG phone at Verizon to replace my 4-yr old Audiovox CDM8900. This phone is sleek, handsome and rugged and at the same time provides excellent reception and voice clarity. The camera is simply awesome. It is a beautiful phone. The standby battery life is very good but the talk time is less than desirable. My phone's battery went dead abruptly after 35 mins of chatting using the speaker phone still with 3 bars of battery reserve (4 is max). Took me by total surprise since I expected to have another hour or more of talk time with 3 bars and the fact that the phone didn't provide any warning of low battery. The contact list is another area that needs improvement. There's no place to enter a street address or misc notes for that contact. You can't even "cheat" by entering notes in the fax number or e-mail line since the LG system will not accept that. Many people use the cell phone as an address book too and not having this ability to enter addresses or misc notes is a major drawback to this beautiful phone. When you use the speaker phone, there's no beep to tell you that you have activated this feature.

Flimsy design, product not durable. My wife selected this phone when we renewed our contract with Verizon Wireless in Sept. 2007. In late Dec 2007 it was discovered the external display was not working properly. With 8 months of warranty remaining, I returned the phone to Verizon and was told I needed to pay $50 to replace the phone because the phone had been dropped. Verizon says the supplier will not cover this phone for warranty. There is no physical external damage to show the phone had been dropped or abused. This was confirmed by the Verizon technician. Verizon says some cell phones are just sensitive.

This phone is crap...just as the VX8600! The speaker phone sucks-you can really only hear if you have the phone up to your ear and the person on the other line can only hear you if you have it up to your mouth...what's the point of speaker then? It seems to be an LG thing because I've had three LG phones and it was the same thing for each. I'm definitely not using another LG. The features are Eh. The design is great except for the charger hook up which has broken on me twice leaving me with having to get another phone. The battery is horrible and that with turning the LCD off and replacing the battery. It's very disappointing and it sucks that Verizon will only allow you to upgrade every two years otherwise you have to pay full price despite the fact that they sold you a crap phone.

My carrier is Verizon. I purchased the phone on a contract renewal and as an upgrade. To date I have had three of which all had a problem. The first has a bad speaker - it rattled when I was on speaker phone. The next replacement still had a rattle in the speaker phone and certain features could not be activated. One is called Voice Training - it is used to enhance voice recognition of number characters. It does not work in the number sequence. The Verizon tech's could not get it to work. rnrnI was then issued a third phone. The Voice Training number sequence did not work on this one either. Nor does the charge complete beep. Then Verizon tells me that I can not get another phone since I already had two returns in 30 days. I then e-mailed LG with the problems. The reply from LG was call the LG 800 phone number because they had no answers. I called a presented my case. The LG tech's said that yes, there is a software problem with the series and they are working on it. I asked how was I to get the new software installed on the phone or download a patch. They said that I would have to go down to the Verizon store in the future and ask if new software is available to correct problems with the phone. I called the 611 number for Verizon and they say that LG did not inform them of a software problem -- but if there is, the rep said, I should go down to the Verizon store and get the download. Now, for the cost of that phone, LG and Verizon should get there act together and stop selling a defective device.

I haven't used it enough to tell if I like it, but I do like the slim design! I can also get reception most times in this area where I could not get any reception with sprint. I need a blue tooth to feel comfortable using the phone. I think I will like the phone and the service.

Excellent phone all around. Nothing bad to say about it at all. LetsTalk.com - very helpful courteous service, quick shipping, e-mail confirmation of every step. I returned 2 phones that required Sprint to be the carrier because of awful Sprint customer support. BUYER BEWARE OF SPRINT - HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, CLUELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE. LetsTalk.com staff processed the returns quickly and hassle free. I purchased 2 new phones with Verizon as a carrier. I am very happy with both phones and the exceptional quality of service by LetsTalk.com and Verizon.
