This look an awful lot like a smartphone. Is it one? If not, what's the difference?

Re: Smartphone? 0 Post(s) Reply Although it has a qwerty keyboard, the Magnet is not a smartphone. There are several features that differentiate "regular" phones from smartphones: Operating System: In general, a smartphone will be based on an operating system that allows it to run productivity applications. BlackBerry smartphones run the BlackBerry OS, while other devices run the Palm OS or Windows Mobile. There are smartphone OSes that are pared-down versions of desktop Linux, too. Software: While almost all cell phones include some sort of software (even the most basic models these days include an address book or some sort of contact manager, for example), a smartphone will have the ability to do more. It may allow you to create and edit Microsoft Office documents--or at least view the files. It may allow you to download applications, such as personal and business finance managers. Or it may allow you to edit photos, get ]driving directions via GPS, and create a playlist of digital tunes. The other key differentiator between smartphones and regular phones is cost of data features. Typically, smartphones require a more expensive data feature, whereas regular phones do not require data features. If you choose to add a data feature, it will also cost you less, $15 per month, as opposed to $35 with smartphones.

Does bluetooth work? And are the keys hard to text on? How long does it take to get it once you order it?

Re: samsung magnet 0 Post(s) Reply The Samsung Magnet is bluetooth capable. I have relatively large fingers, and they fit comfortably on the keybad of the Magnet. Phones ordered before 2PM CST generally ship the same day, and all phones come with free ground shipping, so generally phones arrive within 2-3 business days.

do you think the Samsung Magnet or the Eternity is a better phone
-lacy

  • Re: comparison 0 Post(s) Reply

Re: comparison 0 Post(s) Reply It really depends on what you're looking for in a cell phone. The Eternity is a touchscreen-only phone, which means everything you do will have to be via the touchscreen. Whereas the Magnet has an actual full QWERTY keybaord, which might be more effective for you if you like to text or send e-mail a lot. You'll find more multimedia features on the Eternity, but more messaging options on the Magnet. It really depends on what you want in a cell phone.
